* Description *

TWOGERS is a ragtag collection of 50 MBF21 maps brought to you (once again) by
the Doom Twitch community! Featuring innovative 5-D technologies, TWOGERS
propels the player into an euphoric sensation of thrills, kills, spills, TNT
maps named "Mill" and whatever you can will. This WAD will open your eyes to
sights unseen, your mind to spiritual journeys unimagined, and your sectors to
probable softlocks - and that's okay, because everything is intentional.

Many mappers from POOGERS have returned to bring more general insanity, while
several more mappers have joined to mould the TWOGERS experience into this fine
WAD that we hope you will appreciate.

Some of you, at the very least.

bin wie du" by Marianne Rosenberg, "Cyclogenesis" by Napsalm
Description:
I tried to make something that has humor and uses a lot of extended mapping
techniques. I ended up making hundreds of custom textures for this map, spending
a lot of hours working on it. There are homages to several things in this map.
Make sure to get a nice item count to be sure you found them all!

Spoilers:
There's a section where the player gets to [spoiler] around. I don't think that
has ever been done before in a Doom map, outside of UDMF. And it's a fully
vanilla compatible technique! Same goes for the secrets. I'm proud of getting
monsters to actually [spoiler] through the air instead of immediately dropping
to the floor. I'll pursue more advanced combat scenarios with that in future
maps.

For this map I actually approached several members of the original idgames team.
John Romero was kind enough to actually contribute to the map. You'll have to
play it to see how.

The player starts out in a house I originally included in the map I made for
DIY. The bathroom I used before in Solar Struggle. The track made by Napsalm is
a bespoke track he made for a PUSS: Dis map of mine. I think it also fits well
in this map. I loved being able to find a way to finally use 'Rainbow in the
Sky' by Paul Elstak in a map! Shout out to my girl Hildegard von Bingen, who
also appeared in one of my Poogers maps. Most badass 12th century person ever!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP24: "T.O.A.D.S (The Old Abhor Dancing Shadows)" by Phoenyx
Music: "Prelude to Shadows" by Phoenyx, "Spider Dance" from Undertale
Description:
I started making this map a couple weeks after I finished FROGS. Essentially
meant to be a counterpart to the aforementioned map but a lot shorter and more
focused in its delivery, though it still ended up being a bit scatterbrained.
Just like with FROGS, it's heavily monochromatic and uses a lot of solid
colours. I also sprinkled a little bit of horror into the map, as goofy as it
comes across with the quiet ambient MIDI that I made and crudely drawn visuals
in places. Thought it would be nice to make a map that has a quiet opening that
transitions suddenly into blind chaos. Again, possibly a fun one for the maxers
and I kind of mean it this time.

MAP25: "Death Pit" by NoReason
Music: "Angel Eyes" by Riot V
Description:

MAP26: "tom rider" by Spendoragon
Music: "Level 1" from Blake Stone (sequenced by Erik the Not-So-Great)
Description:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP27: "Conflict in Nothingness" by Soul_Runner
Music: "Sister Nightfall" by Sirenia
Description:
REQUIRES SOFTWARE RENDERER!

All i knew for the map was that i wanted to make a void map inspired by POOGERS
MAP29.
The idea of a giant fight in the void was the main thing i wanted to get in.
Besides that, I found out the stair builder in incredibly good at generating
overlapping and open sectors which is the primary cause for all the maps
fuckery. Everything in the map is intentional. (If it's not, it probably will be
when i know of it's existence NODDERS)

Lore:
The idea for lore behind the map would be that the void (alternate dimension) is
beginning to suck in rooms and locations from other dimensions. This is the
start of the process, as such most of the places that are stolen end up
drastically deformed and lose all original meaning. The church, is the first
sign that the process is becoming more refined as this is the only location in
the map which is largely intact with slight issues.
(Yes, the broken pinkies were left in cause it's supposed to be a bit broken :P)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP48: "How to Kill Things Without Being Killed" by deat
Music: "cigarette smoke" by dreamer
Description:
originally designed as a speedmap for a Doomworld discussion thread, this had
sadly missed the opportunity to be posted as the thread was locked mere hours
before reaching a releasable state. returning back to the cutting room floor,
this Director's Cut edition includes extra scenes and refined gameplay designed
for most ardent of anti-slaughter players!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Episode 4 - Thy Poog Consumed
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP02: "Underhalls 2" by kinetic
Music: "Challenge chewing" by pilldebt
Description:
Underhalls but the combat clashes with the map layout, I think I only needed
like 3 separate mapping sessions to cook this one. I was going to add a whole
thing where there's a secret exit or something if you beat it in under 56
seconds but I think I like the map only having 1 ending, which is a voodoo in
the exit room hitting the exit switch before you can (guess who that is).
Shitgunner gets cooked in the secret because fuck shitgunners. Do not attempt to
max this map getting the final 5 kills is a basic psuedo-rng setup and yeah do
not waste your time running this map in any category I will be SEVERELY
DISAPPPINTED AND UPSET if you do. I mean I won't but I mean seriously this map
is bad to run it is not good for running whatsoever spend your time doing
actually meaningful things, instead of grinding lv02m. I mean Underhalls 2 the
Twogers map.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP28: "A comfy place" by dashiefrickintyan
Music: "Objection" from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, "Lagtrain" by inabakumori,
"Dust to Dust" from Alundra, "Sol Sanctum" from Golden Sun, "Unknown" by
B.P.R.D., "Godfrey First Elden Lord" from Elden Ring, "iwt.mid" by
       Ribbiks
Description:
was about to give up on this map for like 3 times, but at the end glad that i
didn't (especially happy with the black/white section of the map cus i even made
it kind of sync to the music!):)
just a smol not-so-fucked map with a bit of slaughter, a bit of platforming and
a lot of comfyness! make sure to find all the secrets and not wake up the comfy
hotel residents;p
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP29: "When the IBS hits and the stalls are taken" by Vortale
Music: "Low HP" from Pokemon Black/White, "02" from Chip's Challenge
Description:
I shit myself and a map popped out. Gave the last of my FrogSwap to convince
people to put it into TWOGERS because making streamers mad for suggesting they
play on ITYTD is foonni
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP31: "Protect the Kekflip" by Saipiam
Music: "Surprise Attack!" from Tales of Destiny
Description:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP32: "Legerdemain Choices" by riktoi
Music: "Yggdrasil Omega/Yggdrasil Magna" from Granblue Fantasy (sequenced by
       TheoAllen)
Description:
In a great nothingness with nothing but pillars and projectiles. But what then?
This was largely influenced by the teleport maze from Yume Nikki. Although the
influence pretty much ends there.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP33: "F.R.O.G.S (Fractured Realms of Greyt Substance)" by Phoenyx
Music: "Fate of the Damned" from Blood, "A Winter's Dream (Part II)" by
Symphony X, "Pumpkin Hill" from Sonic Adventure 2, "In the Hands of Fate"
from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, "Church of the Machine"
       by Symphony X
Description:
I started this map back in December 2022, initially going to be a spin on The
Express Elevator to Hell from the Master Levels. Each room would have had its
own theme and music. I started throwing around ideas and creating areas off in
random sections of the map. Some worked, some did not. There was originally
going to be 8 normal areas and 8 secret areas, then that was cut down to 4 of
each and then I settled with the areas that I had made already because burnout
had set in hard by the time February came around. Two normal areas, four secret
areas and an exit room with a largely monochromatic colour palette and pretty
lights to make it look like I actually had any idea what I was doing (I didn't).

There's a lot of slaughter in this map, but also some platforming that ranges
from "hey, this isn't so bad too" to "wtf was Phoenyx thinking?" levels of
difficulty. Should be a fun one for the maxers :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAP38: "Not Even Remotely Poog" by decino
Music: "Flat Zone 2" from Super Smash Bros Ultimate (sequenced by Zenkusa)
Description:
An experiment to recreate nightmare monsters with MBF21. Worked out pretty well
except for the instant reaction time after respawning and the respawn mechanic
itself being pretty jank as it's just a hacked up invisible Arch-vile
resurrection. Other than that it's pretty damn faithful to the OG nightmare.

Playing on easy will disable nightmare mechanics and some map sections where you
have to wait for stuff making it max/speedrun friendly.

Medium is like hard but with extra health and weapons. The map is designed with
hard difficulty in mind. For the Shotgunner lovers there's also hard+ if you
enable multiplayer things.

The map itself is a typical techbase with forced backtracking. Monsters are
limited to Imps, Shotgunners and Pinkies since I feel those enemies are affected
by nightmare the most. You really need a NM E4M1 mentality for this one: health
is scarce, Shotgunners are brutal and you cannot waste time otherwise you'll
backtrack into respawned baddies. E4M1 however is short, this one may take up to
10 minutes. Good luck.
